Update & St. Francis of Assisi: Sign of Contradiction

On this Amazing day as we see the leaves in Colorado changing to gold I wanted to share a journey update. As of today Oct 8th, through the support of so many, we have raised 45% of the 92K fundraiser goal! I feel so blessed for the generosity of so many through prayers and financial support and I look forward to what is to come. I have enjoyed more the opportunities to get to know others and the wonderful conversations along the way. There is a chance that I could enter this January so it would be amazing if you can pass my website https://logan10181.wixsite.com/serve or video https://youtu.be/QExbCbzGQSM on to others who may want to join on this mission to make this possible. Thank you for following my journey to the convent!

We recently celebrated the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi on Oct. 4th. I recently came across a film on Formed called. “St. Francis of Assisi: Sign of Contradiction”. It was produced by 4PM Media and the Ministry of the Wild Goose. It's about "searching for purpose and meaning" and the amazing power of conversion when encountering God. I just wanted to share some of the points that struck me during this movie. While St Francis had a special connection to all of God's creation, there is much more to St. Francis then what most people know. St. Francis was a man that had joy and wealth but also had doubts and fears. St. Francis was like at different times in our lives when we are searching for meaning and direction. God called St. Francis to another path and we see how St. Francis answered that call by a free Yes. Is that easy to say Yes to God, definitely not. But this is a part of building that relationship with God and allowing Him to work in us so we can change and grow. To be able to let go of control and put the control in the hands of God. I know for me along this discernment journey this was one of the hurdles I had to overcome. To be able to hand the situation over to God, trust in God, and as steps are taken to allow him to work.

In the film they share when St. Francis heard “rebuild my church” and how he started to physically rebuild a church. Some will share that St. Francis misunderstood what God meant by this but in the film they share that they believe St. Francis knew what God meant. But he was not ready to rebuild the universal church but he knew he could start with one brick and slowly build from there. I really liked that take on this because it shows how even with St. Francis it was a step at a time as God worked through him. Another powerful statement in the movie was that with St. Francis the poverty that he lived helped him to be a witness to others over putting the gospel back at the center of the church. Through giving away all that he had he was able to more fully live the life of Christ and enter into a life where he found joy because God loves him. And no matter what happened he would always know that God loved him. St. Francis emptied himself in order to let God fill him.

At the end of St. Francis’ life he said to his brothers “I have done what I have been called to do, Now may Christ teach you what is yours”. Is Christ calling you at this time? Are you in a place where you can truly listen?
